Zombies! How To Do Special FX On The Cheap
I was always going to love this video on YouTube wasn’t I, seeing as I’m a big fan of the best zom-rom-com ever Shaun Of The Dead. Well if only Simon Pegg and the others who made that had known how to get the zombies looking like zombies for just $2.00, they could have saved themselves a fortune!

Those are the very basics. Couple thoughts though…
Liquid latex shouldn’t be used that close to the eyes. It contains amonia. Pieces can be made and dried before applying with spirit gum, which is a lot safer.
The gash could be improved by using 1 more layer of paper/latex underneath. Applied and crumpled before drying, then when the top is torn and painted it looks like mangled muscle tissues. Just one more step and it adds a lot to the effect.
There are a lot of other variations. Materials alone will give you different effects. Try cotton instead of/with the toilet paper it can be shaped to form a lot of different wounds.
I’m a big fan of Shaun too. They made a better zombie flick than a lot of the 80s “Night of the Living Dead” knockoffs.

Shaun kicks ass, an intelligent and funny zombie movie… it’s what we all wanted!
