Skinner Clips
Yesterday, for another blog, I did a little book review of Life And How To Survive It by John Cleese and Robin Skynner (no relation to famous behaviorist BF Skinner). So, just out curiosity, I went to YouTube and stuck in the words “skinner” or “skynner” in the search feature and looked to see what came up.
This is always fun to do, especially if you are desperate to kill time in an entertaining way. Just stick any random word or word combination into the search feature at YouTube and see what weird and wacky stuff comes up.
WARNING: The f-word is used a couple of times in a couple of these clipped. There. You’ve been warned.
First up is an adorable dwarf hamster in a homemade version of a “skinner box” (named after the previously mentioned BF Skinner). A “skinner box” is where a rat is presented with a lever. When the rat presses a lever, food falls. So the rat keeps pressing the lever until full. It’s called shaping, but here it’s done with a hamster to rap music.
Hypnotic, isn’t it? Okay, next is a clip from The Secret Policeman’s Ball for Amnesty International, done by British comedian Frank Skinner, who really grows on you after a while, like a fine moss:
We now go to a fight with Jordan Skinner and a hockey game broke out:
And we can’t leave the party without a song from Lynard Skynard, “Mr. Saturday Night Special” with a slideshow from an artist that’s either going to die broke or become filthy rich:
