Sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe in, and on October 18, 2007, from Tel Aviv and Jericho, the Israeli and Palestinian people will push their leaders for an end to the conflict - an unprecedented People’s Summit to give platform to moderate voices, internationally linked to events held worldwide.
In an awesome show of what people can do when they work together, these people hope to change the world of conflict and worry that their world has turned into. In these days of antisocial, internet addicted, politically apathetic people, this is an amazing show of what humanity can do and has to offer the universe.
If you can find away, please support these people and other groups all over the world who are trying to make the lives of those less fortunate and those in danger better.
Turns out yes, water can burn, and all you need to make it do so are matches, two batteries, and a glass of water. *gasp* To be honest, it doesn’t look all that impressive on the video (until he lights the paper with his burning water), but it is pretty cool science.
This duet is definitely different from the duet I put up last week. While that video was quite good, I think this one is a lot better, but that’s based purely on my personal tastes.
In this duet, we see a grim future for Earth. In the style of many post-apocalyptic stories, creatures who crave the flesh of humans now roam more or less mindlessly across the landscape.
By pure chance, the creatures find an underground bunker where, lo and behold, very possibly the last two humans on earth reside. The men make a run for it after they’ve been discovered, but will they make it to safety?
I think this video is excellent. It’s grim with a touch of dark humour to give it that ‘complete’ feel. If I did some sort of star system, this would get 5/5.
First, for a random bit of trivia. The quote “Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?” comes from the movie She Done Him Wrong with Mae West. I seem to remember something similar involving a spear in Lysistrata, but I’ve been too long away from my university English classes.
On with the post.
Get down, get disturbed, and widen your eyes just a bit more, all in twenty-four seconds.
Instead of leaving everyone to think I’m a slacker blogger, I wanted to let you know I’m quite ill at the moment. I’m to the point of being even too exhausted to blog from bed.
I’ll be back to normal soon, but until then, posting might be a bit sporadic.
Oh my! He had an idea! Is it just me, or would he look a lot cuter without his dreadlocks?
Anyway.
In this video, this guy tells you how to make your own zine. If you’re unfamiliar with the term ‘zine’ it’s a shortened version of the term ‘fanzine’. Basically, people create their own zine – either hand made, on the computer or whatever else you can think of – then photocopy it (most of the time) and distribute it. Think of a magazine with a smaller readership, smaller circulation, and hand made.
There are a lot of them out there on plenty of topics, so keep on the lookout for these often free self-publications.
I personally don’t think this video is wonderfully great or anything, but I think it will encourage more people to get out there and try the zine thing. Or, at the very least, you can learn some bitchin’ origami skills.
In case you didn’t know, October 15th is/was (depending on your time zone) blog action day. There are somegreatbloggers on the 451 network who posted about it. However, global warming may not get you going as much as child abuse, starvation, the campaign for real beauty, or the hundreds of other causes and issues out there today.
So what do you stand for? Make a video about it and you could win the chance to have $25,000 go to your favourite charity. Read the rest of this entry »
‘Take an in-depth look at The Realm War in Warhammer Online. You’ll get a visual explanation for how Victory Points are gained (or lost) in RvR, and how they ultimately affect the Battlefronts and determine Zone Control. Take a few minutes to learn more about Battlefields, Skirmishes, and Scenarios and then set your strategic plan into motion to lead your Realm to Victory!’
You know, I’m not much of an online gamer (mostly console and offline computer gaming – though I am a little familiar with WoW), but after watching this video, I am willing to give it a shot. Online gaming has come a long way (as proven by the need for such extended tutorials) and it looks quite interesting.
Do any readers here play Warhammer Online? I’d like to hear your input on how you like it.
In these videos National Wildlife Federation President Larry Schweiger in Greenland talking about what’s happening there in relation to global warming.
Personally, I think they should let everyone know that if a large enough glacier chunk fell into the ocean, or if a large enough piece of ice shifted, we could see a tsunami big enough to go around the world. Maybe that would get people to take a bit more care.
But then there is the mass panic, and all that good stuff…
Did you think the Harry Potter stuff was all over with the release of the last book? Far from it.
This is so wrong…and yet, so funny. In this Harry Potter spoof, Harry is getting down and rapping about his wizard life in the hood. Excuse me – H. Piddy is rapping about his life in the hood.
Not only does he make Harry Potter references, but he touches on pop culture with comments about Mel Gibson, Daniel Radcliffe, and more. Plus, he even looks similar to Daniel, which makes it all the more amusing.
I have to say, out of this whole funny song, my favourite line is:
“Voldemort is my bitch, no he ain’t no man. I can’t wait to bust a cap in his Azkaban.”
I’ve put up a video from “Tales of Mere Existence” before because I found it short, entertaining, and very true to life. In that video, he talked about a typical conversation with his mother.
In this sketch, he’s back again talking about the girlfriend he’s not going to think about.
This video not only talks about coming out day and a bit of gay, lesbian, and transgender history, it calls out for you to record your response to the video “telling us what inspires you to live you life openly and honestly.”
I think that’s awesome, even though I might get some nasty comments for supporting this. Gays and lesbians put up with so much crap because “homosexuality is a sin” and yet I don’t see any adulterers getting bashed in the streets and getting their rights taken away, do you?
Help support the gay and lesbian community by raising awareness and celebrating National Coming Out Day.
In this strange yet entrancing video, we observe a dragonfly rising up in the early dawn hours to meet…a human woman.
This video mixes animation and real life dancing in a way that is not at all obvious (beyond what obviousness you are already going to have mixing the two) and doesn’t take away from the video.
I came across this a bit by accident, but I find it fascinating nonetheless. I had heard of the famed “$100 laptop” a couple months ago, but I thought it would take ages to come out at that price.
I was partially right.
It’s out, but it’s more than $100 – though the price is still dropping. (And less than the Eee 700)
What’s cool about this little laptop is that, though it may not have all the things you and I have come to love like CD player and such, it still has everything it’s meant to have – including a battery than can be charged four times more times than the regular laptop battery.
If you’re in the mood to pay a little extra, pay attention to the end of the video where he talks about a deal for you to buy one for yourself and get one sent to an underprivileged child.
This video comes from the Live Journal site of someone I met at Conflux. The strange and yet hauntingly beautiful song “Mad World” from the film Donnie Darko is set to clips from the Japanese stop-motion series of sketches called Domo-kun.
