Human Overpopulation
If you want to know what’s wrong with this world, the answer is staring at you in the face — human overpopulation. There are just too many people and not enough land, food, water, jobs or parking spaces for all of us. So, we managed to push a few thousand species of plants and animals into extinction in order to make room for ourselves. And still, the birth rate keeps on rising and the suffering rate keeps on rising, too. Take care of the kids already on the ground by not having anymore kids.
But then again, that logic is too simple for most people. This gets into the area of hurting the economy. “Who will take care of you when you’re old and pay the taxes?” Well, quite frankly, the last man on earth will be bitching about the economy. It’s kinda stupid to place fears about lack of money over the facts of the soon-to-be lack of a planet.
I have great respect for John Lennon, but he was wrong on this point, saying in the early 1970’s that human overpopulation was a myth. But it’s a great YouTube clip, no matter what you’re opinion on human overpopulation and its result, climate crisis:
I could talk (or blog) to human overpopulation deniers until I’m blue in the face, pointing out stats, facts and just pointing at the headlines in the newspapers. This YouTube clip makes the point much more eloquently than I could:
So, what to do about human overpopulation (besides keep your pants zipped)? First off, let people know they have options rather than do what their parents did. One person who has practical solutions is Jane Goodall (yes — THAT Jane Goodall who did all that amazing undercover work with chimpanzees).
