Gillian McKeith - You Are What You Eat

by

I was recently reading my friend Neelima’s blog about healthy eating and she posed the question “Who is your diet guru?” I answered that it was Dr (maybe) Gillian McKeith, who is a British health nutritionist who has her own programme in the UK called “You are what you eat”. So Neelima did a great post detailing the rules and regimes Dr McKeith uses, and extolling the virtues of those methods. So, I was drawn to look on the trusty YouTube for some nice clips of the show, which includes a segment wher she studies the fat person’s crap to see how their diet is affecting them. Unfortunately there are no clips! Except for a good couple of spoofs which I thought I’d bring you today.

We start with the actual woman herself, this is a dull, boring clip, which I’m only posting so that the people who have never heard of the woman can understand the spoofs…

Yawn…. but now you get the idea of what she’s about, let’s have some fun. First, we have the British show ‘Dead Ringers’ interpretation of ‘You Are What You Eat’…

I love the fact they call her a “pretend doctor”, and say she uses her “disgusted camel face” when she’s disppointed. I’ve always felt she looks more like a gargoyle, but maybe that’s just me. The editing at the end is really well done, and judging by the lengths reality TV programme makers go to these days, probably not too far off the mark.

This is a home-made clip, rather than a professional spoof from the TV, but it still made me laugh, so I thought I’d share it. Warning, this does contain swearing so if you’re easily offended, piss off now…

That has some classic lines in it, and while it may not be as clever a parody as the ‘Dead Ringers’ clip, it made me laugh much more. To suddenly switch halfway through and have Ms McKeith longingly admiring a cake while Spandau Ballet’s ‘True’ plays in the background is inspired. I’ve never actually seen Gillian eat a poo sample, but she does get in there and root around a bit. And remember the top tip… Salad with everything, even a bottle of coke!
