Some Change May Do You Good

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

If I had a dollar for every time I heard the word “change” on television or read it in the newspapers or online for just this week, I’d be a freakin’ millionare. Granted, change can be a good thing, such as changing the Bush administration to the Obama administration. But some changes do get nerve-wracking, especially if a bunch of changes happen on the same day.

When I was trying to find the inaugeration events on MSNBC, my cable provider decided that THAT would be the day it would change it’s line up and which channel number every station would be on. And then, AOL Mail changed it’s format and so did WordPress. All on the same day. For someone who has major depression, this is far too much change than I can handle.

The $100 Laptop

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Not intended for the snarky blogger.

I came across this a bit by accident, but I find it fascinating nonetheless. I had heard of the famed “$100 laptop a couple months ago, but I thought it would take ages to come out at that price.

I was partially right.

It’s out, but it’s more than $100 – though the price is still dropping. (And less than the Eee 700)

What’s cool about this little laptop is that, though it may not have all the things you and I have come to love like CD player and such, it still has everything it’s meant to have – including a battery than can be charged four times more times than the regular laptop battery.

If you’re in the mood to pay a little extra, pay attention to the end of the video where he talks about a deal for you to buy one for yourself and get one sent to an underprivileged child.

ASIMO falls down the stairs

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Oopsy, it’s not good to have a room packed with industry experts and journalists, all waiting to see your company mascot and cutting edge technology walking up some stairs only for him to stumble, fall down and break into a few good sized chunks. (more…)

Microsoft Surface Teaser & Spoof Parody

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Microsoft Surface: Codename Milan. Hmmm, it sounds like the start of a Bond movie. It is in fact the new hardware/software combo which is supposedly going to aid Microsoft’s push to take over the world. It won’t be long before you see this table PC slab in hotels and restaurants… maybe. Let’s watch the official teaser advert for it.

Every Single Famicom Game Title Screen

Monday, June 11th, 2007

This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen on YouTube. It’s simple, to the point, but must have taken absolutely ages to painstakingly compile.

Big Yellow - Tide Advert

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Most TV advertising is rubbish these days, so that’s why when a great one comes along, I like to spread the love for it on here. This latest ad for The Big Yellow Storage Company is one such class act, and is directed by Dougal Wilson.

Star Wars Mistakes Compilation

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

We all love Star Wars, well most of us, except those haters who think it’s cool NOT to like it, in (what they see as) a clever display of non-conformity. Regardless, I enjoyed watching this compilation of the best Star wars mistakes and bloopers.

The first TV commercial for the new, innovative, internet TV provider Joost has been shown, and it does a good job of explaining the concept.

Super Mario World Of Warcraft Gameplay Movie

Monday, April 16th, 2007

This is such a simple little idea, but oh so effective. I love watching World of Warcraft videos, they are always funny, enjoyable and ever so slightly (read hugely) geeky.

The Funniest Nerd Waiting In Line For Nintendo Wii

Monday, April 9th, 2007

So has everyone got their Nintendo Wii yet? Ermmmm no, me neither, because they are still quite hard to get your hands on, both in the US and around the world. This guy, labelled “The funniest nerd waiting in line for a Nintendo Wii” had the right idea though, staying up for 5 days straight and getting in the queue well in advance for one.

World Of Warcraft GM Power

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

I really enjoyed watching this clip, even though I’m not a big player of MMO Games such as World Of Warcraft. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to be, but can’t afford the monthly fees, and fear getting soooo addicted I would never get anything else done! This YouTube video shows the power of GMs in the game World Of Warcraft. GMs are Game Masters, who are Blizzard employees given free reign in the game to help out players, and keep an eye on proceedings.

Toilet Paper Folder And Dispenser

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Rather than try and explain this myself, I’ll quote the original video poster…
“This is a project that me and my friends built for school (UC Berkeley). Its made of lego mindstorms, scissors, and some scrap metal. With all things considered, I think it turned out alright. Not only does it fold your paper for you, it also cuts it. It would be the perfect accessory for a fancy, high-tech, Japanese bathroom! This video shows two test runs; the first run works well, while the second one could have gone a little smoother.” (more…)

Brainiac Thermite Experiments

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007
