The Bright Side of Creationists

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Can you believe there’s still an argument about evolution? Haven’t we had this done and dusted about a hundred years ago? The occassion of Charles Darwin’s 200th birthday (which happend on 12 Feb) has brought the Creationists out of the woodwork on both sides of the Atlantic. Of course they’re not called Creationists any more — they’re “proponents of Intelligent Design”. Many of them are also are global warming deniers, not so oddly enough.

Which brings up certain problems, such as whether or not God exists and if He did, why in the heck did He do such a crap job? Charles Darwin did profess to belienve in God, because at the time he’d be committing professional suicide if he didn’t, but he probably was a Deist. (A belief that God exists but is not benevolent nor interested in manunkind.)

I’ve been reading in various self-help books that we are to find the bright side of everything. So, I’ve compiled a list of what Creationsits are good for.

The Joy of Hate

Monday, February 16th, 2009

There’s no reason to have a hatred of hate. If you deny hate a place in your life, it’ll never leave you alone. Hate can actually be a good thing (and not just for bloggers and talk-show radio hosts), provided you do three things:

  • You use the hate to motivate a positive change in society
  • You don’t do anything illegal
  • You hate people based on their individual characteristics and not just for their appearance, gender or nationality. In other words, get to know someone before you can really hate them.

So, on that note, let’s look at people who really deserve our hatred and how we can use that hatred to better change society (or, at least better about ourselves by making fun of others.)

Greatest American Born Feb 12

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Not so long ago in a galaxy not so far away, the greatest American in history was born. The country celebrates this pivotal birth with mattress sales, lots of speeches and cakes smothered in red, white and blue icing. This person saw the best in everyone and decided to fight for what was right and spent many years devoted to public service.

This person is, of course, my Mom.

Hey, she not only took me in after 30 years of not listening to her, but she took in my dog, too. She’s a living saint. She also was smart enough not to do anything that would get her on YouTube. So, let’s celebrate my Mom with a variety of YouTube clips not featuring her. (Oh, just run with it).

Some Change May Do You Good, Pt. 2

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Because you just can’t get enough change in your life, YouTube Digger presents the second installment of Some Change May Do You Good. That, and I forgot to add this classic video clip which I meant to add to Part one. It’s of Tony Blair murdering David Bowie, but, as “Graham Golden” points out, “Tony’s no stranger to murder”.:

Right — now that’s out of the way, let’s go on to the rest of this post and look more deeply into the ramifications and excitiations of change.

Grizzly Man Parodies

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Timothy Treadwell (he changed his name to Timothy Treadwell) was a wack-noodle who decided that the best way to make grizzly bear documentaries in Alaska was to live as close as possible with grizzly bears — even going up to them and petting them. Now, I love animals better than I love people (’cause people suck), but I respect animals, too. Bears can be cranky. I respect that. So I stay the hell away from bears, just in case they suddenly get cranky. But ol’ Timmy couldn’t keep his hands off of them.

Not surprisingly, many people predicted that one day a bear would kill him. And, eventually, in 2003, one did. This made a great premise for an award-winning documentary called Grizzly Man by Werner Hertzog.

Timothy Treadwell is old news, but the love keeps going on. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then there’s a heck of a lot of love left for the lost Timothy Treadwell in the digital files of YouTube.

Harry Potter in the Hood

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Did you think the Harry Potter stuff was all over with the release of the last book? Far from it.

This is so wrong…and yet, so funny. In this Harry Potter spoof, Harry is getting down and rapping about his wizard life in the hood. Excuse me – H. Piddy is rapping about his life in the hood.

Not only does he make Harry Potter references, but he touches on pop culture with comments about Mel Gibson, Daniel Radcliffe, and more. Plus, he even looks similar to Daniel, which makes it all the more amusing.

I have to say, out of this whole funny song, my favourite line is:

“Voldemort is my bitch, no he ain’t no man. I can’t wait to bust a cap in his Azkaban.

Tadeo Jones

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Tadeo Jones is a fearless explorer who, with his father’s journal, explores a pyramid.

This animated spoof of Indiana Jones is highly enjoyable as it is the “serious adventurer” type of short with a bit of humor mixed in. (Pay attention to where he puts his hands on the statue in the beginning.)

I’m a big fan of the Indiana Jones movies, so I appreciate the humor in this.

Enjoy!

SNL Harry Potter

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

I think I’ve made it pretty clear on this blog that I love Saturday Night Live (especially ‘the good ol’ days’). I loved it even more when I saw this Harry Potter spoof.

Find out what happens when everyone is back from summer vacation and Hermione has…some new special powers.

Battlestar Galactica

Monday, July 30th, 2007

I’ll admit it - I’ve never watched Battlestar Galactica. But after watching what they do for fun (in the original, at least) I want to check out the show, both new and old.

As per request, here is some Battlestar Galactica goodness for the masses. If you start wondering where the spoof is in the beginning (like I did) just keep watching.

For other Battlestar Galactica goodness, check out Watching BSG. Also, check in for more BSG goodness this week.

I’m a Bitch Spoof

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Pretty much all of us have heard Weird Al’s songs and know him for taking one song and turning it into something completely different and often hilarious.

I bet you haven’t heard of Chris Franklin, though.

This Aussie bloke from a city not far from where I live, actually, took Meredith Brooks/Alanis Morissette’s (depending on where you’re from) song Bitch and came back with the song Bloke.

If you know Aussie humor, you have an idea of what you’re in for with this video. If you don’t, sit back and enjoy. This is a video definitely worth watching. Imagine my surprise when I heard this in the pub for the first time as you listen to the lyrics.

Ebay by Weird Al Yankovic

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

I’m definitely a fan of Weird Al. He hasn’t always made me laugh, but when he does, I laugh a lot.

I love this video not only because he’s making fun of a Backstreet Boy’s song but because I know this is probably true of a lot of people. There is a lot of crap floating around in eBay and people are actually buying it.

Watch this and see if you laugh or blush and close your eBay open in the other window of your browser. ;)

Glade Advert (With Spoof Edit)

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I hate this advert, well I hate the original, I love this spoof version if I’m honest. One added scene and it can make a crappy advert, dubbed in to English featuring a kid on the toilet, the best thing since sliced bread. Just watch it, and see if you can spot the extra scene….

Microsoft Surface Teaser & Spoof Parody

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Microsoft Surface: Codename Milan. Hmmm, it sounds like the start of a Bond movie. It is in fact the new hardware/software combo which is supposedly going to aid Microsoft’s push to take over the world. It won’t be long before you see this table PC slab in hotels and restaurants… maybe. Let’s watch the official teaser advert for it.

Panda Dog

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

I’ve never been a fan of interspecies sex. Wow, what a statement that is, but let me explain. There are a species of animal called ligers, basically the offspring of a lion mating with a tiger. I don’t know if this occurs naturally in the wild, or if scientists get the lion to take the tiger out on a series of dates, then after a romantic film at the cinema, they both get drunk, one thing leads to another and hey presto, we have a liger. But I digress, watch this clip from YouTube and see for yourselves…

Sarah Silverman and Paris Hilton Kiss and Make up

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Sarah Silverman recently laid in to Paris Hilton at the MTV Awards, the day before Paris went to jail for the first time. Now I know she’s been in and out, then in again since, but I’m sure she’s used to stuff going in and out all the time… I’ve seen the videos. Well Sarah decided to apologise to Paris, and so they’ve kissed and made up. Here is the exclusive footage I dugg up from YouTube…
