YouTube Digger

I’m the latest in a long line of bloggers for YouTube Digger. When you agree to take on this blog, there are a few things you can’t tamper with from the previous bloggers’ administrations. One of which is that you can’t get rid of any categories established — even if you have no idea what those categories are suppoed to mean.

So, I’ve going down the category list to see which ones that need a new entry and I come to AMV. I’ve been scratching my head over what the heck AMV stands for. It must be short for something and not just a word pronounced “amvuh” or somthing like that. Perhaps it’s the official sound one makes when a pill scratches your throat. “AMV!!!”

“I’m Not Going to Think About Her�

I’ve put up a video from “Tales of Mere Existence� before because I found it short, entertaining, and very true to life. In that video, he talked about a typical conversation with his mother.

In this sketch, he’s back again talking about the girlfriend he’s not going to think about.

I found this video while YouTube surfing and I fell in love with it.

Perhaps it’s because the simple drawing animation works well for the piece. Perhaps it’s because it’s funny. Perhaps it’s because it’s one of those tales that you can’t make up. You can exaggerate it a bit, but you have to have been through the original experience.

All of the above.

If you’ve ever thought you mother was annoying, doesn’t listen to you, and/or doesn’t trust you to take care of yourself even though you are an adult, you’ll like this short animation. It’s funny in a dry, sarcastic sort of way while also leaving us shaking our heads throughout because if the mother portrayed here isn’t your mother, than she’s the mother of someone you know.

I don’t know about you, but I spent many Saturday nights staying up to watch Saturday Night Live. I fondly recall the days of Chris Farley, Will Farrel, Adam Sandler, Christopher Walken, and more.

One of my favorite sketches, and one my brother and I watched over and over when we were young, was the Zagats sketches with Chris Farley and Adam Sandler. The beauty of these sketches is not only was the content humorous, but Farley and Sandler (moreso Sandler) had a hard time staying in character and not laughing.

Pay attention to Sandler’s face and you’ll know what I mean… (more…)

While I’ve thankfully yet to see anyone dress up as Borat, I’ve seen loads of people doing impressions, and really crappy versions of his voice, even though the film has been and gone ages ago.

This is from 1999 but that doesn’t make it any less funny. Obviously a version of Gloria Gaynor’s camp disco classic ‘I Will Survive’, this looks good, and has the sort of comedy payoff a lot of sitcom writers would do well to pay attention to. ;)

After seeing Ricky Gervais’ skit on Comic Relief last week I was encouraged to search for some older clips of the great man and here is the classic! This dance came from Series 2, Episode 5 of the original British version of The Office and see David Brent (Gervais smarmy character) trying to impress his colleagues and co-workers by dancing for charity. This is a clip I had recommended to me and I sat there watching it in disbelief. It looks like (and I mean that in the loosest sense) a Japanese game show where supposed lookalikes go up against each other, and the most convincing goes through as a winner. (more…)

The Brothers McLeod Present ‘A History Of Rock’. This is a great comedy short and some excellent animation. The Brothers McLeod are British pair Greg and Myles and they have 20 animations on YouTube so far. I’m loving their work! (more…)
