Hello From YouTube Digger’s New Blogger

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Hi. My name’s Rena Sherwood (if you couldn’t tell by the little blue rectangle) and I’ve plunged headlong into taking over this blog. For those of you who recognize my name (both of you), you’ll know that I also write for two other blogs on 451 Press, Dealing With Headaches and Depression Talk.

So, why did I take on YouTube Digger? Simple. I was sick to death of constantly checking on this site and not finding anything new. I thought it would be a heck of a lot easier to just become the new blogger rather than wait for someone else to take over the job.

Besides — $20 is $20.

And So It Begins

With making a grand entrance in mind, let’s take a look at some of the great opening themes in television history, according to my incredibly slanted point of view. For a combination of cool and kitsch, let’s take a look at the opening to the 1965 season of Get Smart.

Ahh, refreshing, wasn’t it? So, if you want a little more sophistication with your spies, let’s look to a surreal show across the Pond called The Prisoner. Also, just a explanation to all the kids — that thing shown about 1:20 into the clip is called a typewriter.

I always wondered why Number Six bothered to announce his resignation. The lesson here is that if you’re a spy, don’t announce your resignation. Just quietly leave the country and never come back to work.

Finally

In conclusion, for sheer lunacy, let’s look at the opening to It’s Gary Shandling’s Show. WARNING: You may have this theme stuck in your head for the next twenty years. You’re welcome.)

Worst Fight Scene Ever

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Star Trek: The Original Series is well known for a lot of things. It was one of the first shows to have a black female character, it had some special effect which for it’s time were awesome, and it showed a space ship being attcked just by wobbling the camera and getting the actors to sway a little bit. These are all excellent reasons to love it, but I’ve found another. Here we have what is probably the worst fight scene ever to be shown on TV…

One Handed Rubik’s Cube Solve 20.09 Seconds

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

This is amazing. I don’t even think I could turn a Rubik’s cube with one hand, let alone solve it in 20 seconds. In fact, thinking back, I don’t even think I ever solved one of these mind numbingly difficult puzzles, either as a kid or an adult.

The Simpsons Voice Actors Interview

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

This was sent to me by a good friend, and the instant I watched it, I was enthralled. I’m a big Simpsons fan, and so being able to watch the cast speaking as the characters is like a little slice of heaven to me. The ad-libbing is great as James Lipton interviews the on ‘Inside the actors studio’ while clips play in the background.

Star Wars Mistakes Compilation

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

We all love Star Wars, well most of us, except those haters who think it’s cool NOT to like it, in (what they see as) a clever display of non-conformity. Regardless, I enjoyed watching this compilation of the best Star wars mistakes and bloopers.

Reebok Advert - Belly’s Gonna Get You

Monday, April 30th, 2007

I love this clip, and have just found it again after not seeing it for ages. It’s from an advert from a few years back for Reebok footwear, and still makes me laugh to this day.
