Bangledesh

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

I have a client who wants me to write about how Bangledesh should become more eco-friendly and cut down on urban sprawl. Is he kidding me? The poor people in Bangledesh are probably looking forward to the end of the world. Ecological Armageddon would probably be a relief.

Does any good news ever come out of Bangledesh? It seems that’s a place set up to be as bad as possible so their governments rake in all of the charity money. Not that the people (or other critters) of Bangledesh ever see any of it. The first big charity rock concert was in 1971 for Bangledesh, organized by ex-Beatle George Harrison. Fat lot of good that did. But it does make for some interesting YouTube clips.

Domo-kun Mad World

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

This video comes from the Live Journal site of someone I met at Conflux. The strange and yet hauntingly beautiful song “Mad World from the film Donnie Darko is set to clips from the Japanese stop-motion series of sketches called Domo-kun.

If you’re not familiar with either the song or Domo-kun… (more…)

Black Books - Episode One

Monday, October 8th, 2007

My husband introduced me to Black Books when I came to Australia, and I have loved it ever since. Bernard’s generally sneering outlook on life paired with the other slightly off characters he encounters makes for a show that’s not quite like your usual half-hour show.

This video is the beginning of the first episode of Black Books. I had started with watching it on television, so it was very funny to go back and see what Manny was like before Fran and Bernard became a part of his life.

In this video you meet Bernard, Fran, and Manny and right away you get a taste of Bernard’s ‘unique’ personality. He has no problems making fun of anyone, that’s for sure…

Christopher Walken’s Delilah

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

I’ll admit it - I have a thing for Christopher Walken stuff. Be it his Weapon of Choice video or his Saturday Night Live work.

This video is a clip from the movie Romance and Cigarettes where he sings the Tom Jones song Delilah. It features great music, a lot of dancing, and sex.

What more could you want?

Stabbed women dancing around? Well this video has that too. Enjoy. ;)

Monty Python Black Knight - Star Wars Edition

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

This video, a play on Monty Python and the Holy Grail’s “Black Knight” and Star Wars, is very funny. Having turned the swords into light sabers (decently done visually, I’d like to add) and giving the Black Knight Darth Vader’s voice has made an already hilarious Monty Python moment even funnier.

My only criticism was the overuse of some Vader lines, but this video is definitely still worth watching.

Britain’s Got Talent - Paul Potts

Friday, July 20th, 2007

I’m a little late on finding this video, but even for those who did watch this, it’s worth watching again.

One of the main things I don’t like about people is when they judge someone before knowing them. I know it sounds goody-goody, but it’s the truth. You can see it in the faces of these judges when Paul announces to them he’s going to sing opera.

To them, I say, “Take that, judges!

Watch here to see something amazing come from a man people might usually pass by without a glance.

Saturday Night Live - Zagats

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

I don’t know about you, but I spent many Saturday nights staying up to watch Saturday Night Live. I fondly recall the days of Chris Farley, Will Farrel, Adam Sandler, Christopher Walken, and more.

One of my favorite sketches, and one my brother and I watched over and over when we were young, was the Zagats sketches with Chris Farley and Adam Sandler. The beauty of these sketches is not only was the content humorous, but Farley and Sandler (moreso Sandler) had a hard time staying in character and not laughing.

Pay attention to Sandler’s face and you’ll know what I mean… (more…)

Three Year Me

Monday, July 9th, 2007

What first came to mind when I watched this video is: Wouldn’t it piss you off to have taken a picture of yourself every day for three years to only end up with a video that’s only a little over a minute long?

I admire the dedication, but I think this would be more effective if the person was losing a large amount of weight over a period of time or something like that. This is akin to watching someone who has put together hundreds of pictures of his/her face. Period.

Still, it’s somewhat interesting to watch. One time, anyway. If you pay close attention, you can pick up the small changes that happen.

Paul Potts - Britains Got Talent Winner

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

My friend DaveP over at Pop Buzz UK has done an amazingly thorough and well written review of the final of Britains Got Talent today, and so I thought I’d highlight the winner with some footage of him on the show. Oh look, I’ve just noticed that guy over at Pop Buzz has exactly the same name as me, what a coincedence.

Anyway, here are a few video clips of the massively talented opera singer Paul Potts performing in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Piers Moron and a huge crowd. Enjoy…

This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen on YouTube. It’s simple, to the point, but must have taken absolutely ages to painstakingly compile.

Extraordinary Breastfeeding

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

This video is bizarre and slightly disturbing, as it tells the story of an English mother who still breastfeeds her daughter at 8… yes Eight years old. Now that is a bit strange, and makes me feel slightly nauseous. I was breastfed, not that I can remember but my mum informs me I was, and that’s fine, I think breastfeeding a baby is perfectly natural and normal. I don’t even shirk or look away when a new mother does it in public, and actually think it’s quite beautiful. But, that’s for babies, not 8 year olds who are at school, and have friends and lives of their own, isn’t that just a bit sick?!?

Star Wars Mistakes Compilation

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

We all love Star Wars, well most of us, except those haters who think it’s cool NOT to like it, in (what they see as) a clever display of non-conformity. Regardless, I enjoyed watching this compilation of the best Star wars mistakes and bloopers.

The first TV commercial for the new, innovative, internet TV provider Joost has been shown, and it does a good job of explaining the concept.

The Simpsons Movie Trailer

Friday, May 11th, 2007

I can’t wait for this movie to come out, but I’m going to have to wait until July 27th to be able to get my Simpsons big screen fill. The film shouldn’t disappoint though, having been written by eleven of the TV series most prolific writers.
